Physical Features of Canada

War Horse

To complete our glimpse into World War I, Block 2.1 and 2.2 will watch War Horse (before we return back to Chapter 2). War Horse was a film released in 2011 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. After "Joey" is sold for a second time to the British Calvary, Albert enlists in the British forces and is sent to the the front lines. Will he ever see his precious horse again? Here are some questions to guide your film watching. According to the movie, how were horses used during World War I? What other animals do you think were used and how? How does the portrayal of the trenches compare or contrast with your prior knowledge? (What is similar or different). In your opinion, does this movie properly depict the various aspects of World War I? Why or why not? How does this war affect those who are not soldiers?
